The Summoned: The Gathering
Clal awoke to the fresh air of the morning. The sunlight was just beginning to flood in as its rays shot over the mountains in the distance, through Clal's window, and paraided upon the wall of his abode. He could hardley remember why he was here; then, the memory of the past few days flooded through his conciousness. Yesterday seemed like a dream, that none of the days events actually happended. How could I be “the one?” I'm just a farm boy from L'rune. I don't understand how this could be. As Clal's mind continued to whir through question after question there came a knock at his door.
“Come Clal, wake up” came a voice beyond the door. “It's morning if you couldn't tell already and there is much to discuss and sort out. Please see to it that you are dressed as soon as possible. I set some clean, suitable clothing on the bench near your bed. I'll be waiting beyond the keep in the gally.” Clal could here footsteps trail off but return after only a moment. “Oh, if you were to wonder, my name is Hommel, the King's squire. Till then.” Again the footsteps were heard but did not return this time.
Discuss? Sort out? But I was just name “the one” yesterday. How could things transpire so quickly? With such thoughts in his head Clal rose from his bed and stretched out his limbs. He hadn't felt this refreshed in a great while. He then placed the pads of his feet on the stone floor and just as quickly recoiled from the bit of cold that struck his feet. The floor was cold but Clal knew that his feet would warm up after a while. He quickly got out of bed, dressed in the cloths that Hommel had provided and reached for the door knob. Clal opened the door and before leaving the sight looked back to the place where he had stayed the night. Clal murmered to himself, “Well Clal, there lay the resting place of the Clal that once was, never to be the same again. And now, a new Clal has arisen this day with a destiny of hope carried in his hand.”
Clal, having spoken these words closed the door and disappeared down the hall and out of sight.
